James Vincent McMorrow from Dublin/Ireland wrote me an e-mail aksing me to listen to his music on MySpace. And so I did and I was surprised by the quality of the tracks he uploaded there. I must admit I missed his 2008 EP The Sparrow And The Wolf and therefore I did not notice his music until now (except for the post over at slowcoustic.com). James is going to release his debut in December 2009 and I’m very excited to hear it in full length.
For now he sent me two tracks which will appear on the forthcoming album but are not yet in the final mix. So you can call them rough versions or demos although they still have very high sound quality. One of the two tracks, Follow You Down To he Red Oak Tree, is featured in Bernardos “Help Change A Child’s Future” Campaign that is currently airing in Ireland. Not a bad start for the upcoming release.
His dreamy and levitating voice is one of the outstanding features of his music. It’s soft and warm and together with his chary guitar play it is placed in a very positive light. Besides his voice and his guitar the tracks are supported by banjo?, drums, percussions and a synthesizer piano at some points. Altogether this is a very chilled mix and I belive the album will be as good or even better than the two great tracks featured here. So keep your ears open and don’t miss the release of his debut record. In the meantime you can visit his MySpace or his personal homepage for more information.
