Everybody has heard about Haruko and her new album Wild Geese. But maybe you did not hear that the small german label Gold and Silver Recordings released a free two track EP featuring her and Hlynur Gudjonsson named Stable Session.
I highly recommend to give it a try because what you get will make you as happy as a rabbit drowning in carrots. Gudjonsson plays country driven acoustic folk with backing vocals from Haruko at some points. It’s sad and melancholic and you will listen to it more then once – i promise.
Compared to the first track Haruko’s voice is not as present as Gudjonsson’s and therefore her track is much more levitating. It’s not so much country influenced and more the classic singer-songwriter stuff. Also you can find Gudjonsson doing the same thing Haruko did before, because he’s also singing some lines together with her. The fact that both artists support each other makes this EP really self-contained.
Talking about the atmosphere of the EP I can tell you that it is gorgeous. The two songs were recorded at the old stable you see on the cover of the EP. What do you need more to spend the next time together with those two good friends?
Make sure you check the MySpace site of Gold and Silver Recordings and order their releases. Great music over there.
A big Thank You goes out to DieQuadratur over at the Velours carpets for lovers blog for mentioning this release.
